The move may not mean the truck is behind in development. Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. told the Detroit News, “because of its wide array of advanced tech, as well as the brand’s recent global growth that we’ve talked about and potential for more, we felt that it makes perfect sense to reveal the vehicle at CES 2023.”
CES is steadily becoming part of the auto show circuit. Last year, Chevrolet revealed its own Chevy Silverado EV at the Las Vegas show.
We know little about the electric Ram. The company has released several shadowy renderings. They show a sleek, cab-forward design with LED lighting in a prominent X pattern and four doors. Reports suggest it may wear the name Ram REVolution.
Koval told reporters in September that Ram will try to outcompete electric pickups like the Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevy Silverado EV in traditional truck traits like towing and payload.
The truck we’ll see at CES may not be a finished product. Ram spokespeople have told us, instead, to expect a concept vehicle showing what a future truck might look like, if an unusually polished and production-ready one. Ram parent Stellantis has taken this approach with several recent electric launches, including Dodge’s first electric muscle car.
