Bollywood’s elite and humble, everyday cars don’t really go hand in hand. Try telling this to Tanishaa Mukerji, who was just spotted driving off in a humble car by Bollywood standards – a Denim Blue-coloured Hyundai Creta. Why, even Tanishaa Mukerji did say that the Creta was a ‘small car’, while in reality it’s a reasonably large mid-sized SUV sold in the Indian market. Here’s the video where the Bollywood actress drives off in a Hyundai Creta after her Pilates session at a gym in Mumbai,
Recently, two other actresses were seen in humble cars – Shraddha Kapoor in a Maruti Brezza sub-4 meter SUV and Sara Ali Khan in a Maruti Alto 800. Tanishaa Mukerji’s other cars include two generations of the Skoda Superb luxury sedan.
The Skoda Superb, while being a solidly-built, super spacious and luxurious car, is not considered to be in the same league as German cars from marques such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz – brands that the Bollywood swish set are seen in. The Superb that Tanishaa Mukerji currently owns in the latest-gen version that comes exclusively with a turbo petrol engine.

Coming back to the Hyundai Creta, it’s India’s best selling SUV, often outselling much cheaper sub-4 meter compact SUVs. The Creta sold here is the second generation model. The 2nd-gen Creta is available with petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The petrol engines include a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder naturally aspirated and 1.4 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged units. While the 1.5 petrol makes 113 Bhp-144 Nm, the 1.4 liter turbo petrol motor makes 138 Bhp-240 Nm. 6 speed manual and CVT automatic gearboxes are offered on the Creta 1.5 Petrol while the turbo petrol variants get a 6 speed manual and a 7 speed twin clutch automatic.
The Creta sold in India also gets a 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine, which makes 115 Bhp of peak power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Thee Creta Diesel is available with 6 speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox options. Prices of the Creta start from Rs. 10.45 lakh for the base trim. While the Creta is quite affordable, Hyundai hasn’t compromised on the equipment on offer. In fact, the 2nd generation Hyundai Creta is quite feature-rich, and this is an important reason for the SUV’s continued success in the value conscious Indian market.
Talking features, the top-end trims of the all-new Hyundai Creta offer features such as 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, six airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, wireless charging, 7.0-inch instrument cluster, 10.25 inch infotainment module with GPS navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8-speaker Bose premium sound system, remote engine start-stop, front ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat and an electric parking brake with auto hold function. Direct competition for the Creta comes from te likes of the Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Nissan Kicks and recently launched mid-size SUVs such as the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder Urban Cruiser.
